We’re thrilled to announce that Amy Gilman has joined Freetrade as our first Head of People.
Amy is already hard at work building out a world-class team to support our continued growth.
Our growth so far has been a direct result of the deeply talented team that we have pulled together.
Amy is no exception, bringing substantial experience in executive recruitment and employee learning and development that will be a huge asset when it comes to growing and upskilling our team.
(Did we mention we have over 30 live roles we’re hiring for right now?!)
Before joining Freetrade, Amy held senior roles at leading human resources and recruitment consultancies, including La Fosse Associates, which consistently featured in the Sunday Times’ “Top 40 Best Small Companies to Work for” during her tenure.
Amy’s appointment follows some key milestones in Freetrade’s growth:
• Surpassing 250,000 customers
• London Stock Exchange now ranking Freetrade as the second largest broker in the UK, by order volume
• Closing our biggest ever crowdfunding campaign, raising £7m in just five days
The challenge. I’m thrilled to be joining Freetrade at an important juncture in their growth, so that I can act as a catalyst and drive our ambitions forward. Additionally, it’s exciting to be joining a company that so clearly places its community at the heart of everything that they do.
I always wanted to be a teacher when I was younger and after university, I fell into the learning and development profession quickly, which is a bit like specialising in teaching for businesses! As my career progressed, I widened my experience across other areas of HR, to include generalist experience, HR project management (employee engagement, benefits, retention) and talent acquisition. Following my last role at La Fosse, I really fell in love with the pace and opportunity of the start-up and scale-up world.
Beyond cooking and eating as many different cuisines as I can (which may not count as a pastime!) I am a passionate musician. I have played the piano for over 25 years and I am a classically trained singer. I mainly perform at weddings and for close family and friends and only under duress so please don’t get any ideas!
I’m pretty risk averse and like to ensure I’m diversified (without putting much thought into things) so my first investment was an ETF tracking UK's biggest companies.
When you invest, your capital is at risk. The value of your portfolio can go down as well as up and you may get back less than you invest.
