Introduction
As technology evolves, it becomes increasingly challenging to maintain support for older software versions. Continuing to support outdated versions can hinder our ability to adopt new features, technologies, and security enhancements. It can also lead to a suboptimal user experience due to compatibility issues and limited resources for troubleshooting and bug fixes. Discontinuing support and maintenance of certain software versions is a process known as deprecation. By using our mobile application, you acknowledge and accept that we may take action to deprecate a software version on your device in line with this policy.
Our approach to deprecation
At Freetrade, we are committed to providing our customers with the best experience and continuously improving our services. To achieve this, we will periodically review and update this policy, which outlines our approach to deprecating software versions and ensures that our customers receive adequate notice and support during transitions to new versions.
Our approach to deprecating software versions is listed below:
- We aim to support the most recent software versions, and at least the previous three major software versions, depending on the operating system used by a customers’ device. This ensures that the majority of our customers can benefit from the latest features, performance improvements, and security updates.
- As a software version approaches deprecation, we will notify our customers in advance to give them sufficient time to transition to a supported software version or device.
- The notice period we provide will vary depending on the impact of the deprecation and the availability of updates for affected devices. We will adapt the notice period we give to customers based on their device’s compatibility with upcoming software updates. We take a range of factors into consideration when determining this notice period, including the complexity of the deprecation, user impact, and available alternatives. We will aim to provide at least 30 days’ notice for software versions that can be installed on all devices. For software versions that require customers to upgrade to a newer device, we will aim to provide at least 90 days’ notice.
- Customers can continue using our services during the notice period, however we strongly recommend customers update to a supported software version to access the latest features, performance improvements, and security enhancements.
- After the notice period, we will no longer provide support or guarantee the functionality of our services on deprecated software versions. Customers still using the deprecated version may experience compatibility issues and limited access to customer support services.
- In certain situations where security concerns arise, we reserve the right to deprecate more recent software versions to ensure the safety and privacy of our customers. In such cases, we will follow a similar notice period and support the discontinuation process as outlined above.
Once we have identified specific software versions for deprecation, we will initiate the notice period. We will communicate the exact timing to our customers through various channels, including in-app messages, push notifications, emails, and announcements on our website.
We value our customers' feedback and encourage you to reach out to our customer support team if you have any questions or concerns regarding our deprecation and software version support policy.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we work towards providing you with the best possible experience on our platform.
