We’ve got a lot of exciting new stocks and shares this week, so let’s dive into the highlights.


Accessories and bling

We’ve added some jewellers and accessory retailers to your app this week, including:


  • Steven Madden $SHOO - With a ticker like that, I think you know what you’re going to get. Founded by the eponymous designer, this company sells shoes and accessories for women, men, and children
  • Tiffany & Co $TIF - The iconic jeweller that’s popularised breakfast and little blue boxes.  
  • Signet Jewelers $SIG - The world’s largest diamond jewellery retailer, they operate retailers like H. Samuel, Ernest Jones in the UK. 
  • Designer Brands $DBI - This chain of shoe and accessory retailers operates over five hundred stores in the US. 
  • Crocs $CROX - What outfit isn’t complete without a pair of comfortable and supremely unfashionable Crocs? Love them or hate them, you can now buy stock in them on your app.


Fast food and restaurants 

As we’re coming out of lockdown, restaurants are definitely on peoples’ minds. There are a few iconic American chains in this week’s update:


  • Jack in the Box $JACK - Founded in 1951, this West Coast institution has been serving up everything from burgers to tacos for years.
  • Brinker International $EAT - The company behind the chain of Chili’s diners. Best known for their Baby Back Ribs, there was even a branch featured in the Mike Judge classic, Office Space. 
  • Bloomin' Brands $BLMN - Operator of chains including Aussie Grill and Outback Steakhouse, an institution in American strip malls.


Biotech innovators

Biotech companies are in focus these days as the hunt for a COVID-19 vaccine intensifies. We’ve added a few key players that are shaking up this research-driven industry.


  • Geron $GERN - A California-based biotech that develops therapeutic products for cancer, they were backed by VC Kleiner Perkins way back in 1999 before they went public.
  • BioCryst $BCRX - This company develops antivirals and treatments for autoimmune diseases.
  • Inovio $INO - This company develops synthetic DNA products for treating cancers and infectious diseases. It’s also one of over 100 companies developing a vaccine candidate for COVID-19.
  • Silence Therapeutics £SLN - This UK-based company develops gene-therapies based on RNA interference for serious diseases.
  • Horizon Discovery £HZD - A Cambridge-headquartered gene editing company that designs genetically modified cells that can be applied in research and clinical development of drugs.



And more, including financial services giants, a SPAC, recliners and Kodak


  • Spartan Energy Acquisition $SPAQ - A SPAC (check out our SPAC explainer here) focused on acquiring a company in the energy sector. It has announced plans to merge with electric vehicle manufacturer Fisker.
  • Eastman Kodak $KODK - Once a humble company that produced camera-related products, they recently announced an agreement with the US government to produce ingredients for drugs that may be used in the fight against COVID-19.
  • La-Z-Boy $LZB - The manufacturer of the recliner that’s synonymous with Sundays watching football and drinking beer.
  • Jefferies Financial Group $JEF - A financial services holding company that controls Jefferies Investment Banking, along with mortgage and vehicle finance companies.
  • TD Ameritrade $AMTD - A broker that offers electronic trading services, currently being acquired by Charles Schwab in an all-stock deal.
  • Mitsubishi UFJ Financial $MUFG - The fifth largest bank in the world by total assets and the largest financial group in Japan. 
  • Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA $BBVA - Spain’s second largest financial institution and one of the largest in the world, it’s headquartered in Madrid and Bilbao and operates in over thirty countries around the world.
