Bonus Spooky Free Share

How does this promotion work?

Refer a friend between 24 October and 31 October 2024 and, in addition to the usual £10 to £100 free share, you’ll both get a bonus share from our Spooky stocks collection. 👻

How it works

1. Your friend signs up to Freetrade using your referral link between 24 and 31 October 2024.
2. They complete and pass our customer onboarding checks, fill out a W-8BEN form, and fund their account with at least £50 (net) by 7 November 2024 at 23:59.
3. You and your friend will each see a single pending free share in your account. It will usually be awarded within 7-10 days of your friend qualifying, and your bonus spooky shares will be awarded 7-10 days later.

Important

• To be eligible for a free share as a Referrer, you must have funded your Freetrade account with at least £50 (net). Net funding is calculated as total top-ups minus total withdrawals.
• If either you or your friend withdraw from the account, causing it to fall below £50 net funding before the free share is awarded, the referral will be deemed unsuccessful and you won’t qualify for either the £10-100 free share or the bonus share.
• Any cash proceeds received from the sale of the free shares can only be withdrawn 180 calendar days from the date the free share is awarded.

Which free shares will I receive?

£10-100 free share

Successful referrals will be rewarded with the usual £10 to £100 free share. Free shares are randomly selected from a list of US and UK companies, ETFs, and investment trusts. 

The probability is weighted, so more expensive shares will be rarer. The below table shows the probability distribution of free shares.

Bonus share

The bonus free share will be selected from our Spooky stocks collection and worth between £5 and £20. You can view the collection from the Discover tab of your app.

I can’t see my bonus free share!

Check your friend has met the qualifying conditions:

✅They used your referral link to open their Freetrade account

✅They filled a W-8BEN form

✅They topped up with at least £50 (and haven’t withdrawn it)

Remember, as the referrer, you’ll also need to have funded your account with at least £50 (net). 

Once you make the referral, you and your friend will each see one free share pending in your account. This is the £10 to £100 free share that is automatically applied when you make a referral. Usually, it will be awarded 7-10 days after your referral has met all the qualifying conditions.

The bonus share will appear as pending in your account 7-10 days after you get your first free share, and will be awarded 1-2 days later🥳

How many friends can I refer?

You can refer up to 10 friends under this offer.

🎟 Remember, referrals should only be made to family and friends and links can’t be shared on public social media channels or forums. Breaching this term will result in disqualification from the referral programme. ‍

‍Do I have to pay taxes on free shares?

The entire value of the share when sold may be subject to capital gains tax. You can check the value of each share when issued and/or sold on your portfolio screen.

Free Share Halloween Referral Terms and Conditions (Spooky stocks collection)

Validity Period:

24 October 2024 to 31 October 2024  

Introduction

1. Freetrade Limited’s (“Freetrade”, “we”, “us” or “our”) Free Share Halloween Referral Campaign (“Halloween Referral Campaign”) is offered subject to these Halloween Referral Terms & Conditions (“Halloween Referral Terms & Conditions”). By taking any actions under the Halloween Referral Campaign, you agree to be bound by these Halloween Referral Terms & Conditions. These Halloween Referral Terms & Conditions are governed by English law.
2. Under the Halloween Referral Campaign, a free share (a “Free Share”) and a bonus share (a “Bonus Share”) will be awarded to a relevant Referrer and to a Recipient who have together successfully completed a Valid Referral in accordance with these Halloween Referral Terms & Conditions. In these Halloween Referral Terms & Conditions, the award of the Free Share and the Bonus Share is referred to as the Award (“Award”). 
3. The Halloween Referral Campaign will be valid for the Validity Period unless we extend that period. We may withdraw or amend these Halloween Referral Terms & Conditions to the extent that the withdrawal or amendment is not to your detriment, by updating them on our website. 
4. Any Freetrade Account will be subject to Freetrade’s Terms and Conditions which can be found here.‍

Making a Valid Referral

5. A “Valid Referral” occurs when all of the steps in (a)-(c) below have been completed: 
   • the Referrer sends the referral link provided by us (“Referral Link”) via the Freetrade app to a Recipient during the Validity Period;
   • the Recipient uses the Referral Link to successfully sign up to a Freetrade account; and 
   • the Recipient provides us with the Referrer’s email address when prompted to do so.
6. A referral which has met the criteria at 5(a)-(c) above ceases to be a Valid Referral if the Referrer or the Recipient stops meeting any of their eligibility criteria set out at section 9 or section 11 below before the date of the Award.  
7. Referrals and sharing of Referral Links must not be made through public communications. For example, Referral Links must not be shared on public social media platforms or forums such as posting on Instagram, Tik Tok, Reddit and YouTube (with the exception of the direct messaging services). You must comply with the terms and policies of any website or application where a Referral Link is shared. Referral Links may only be used in connection with the Bonus Free Share Referral Campaign and for no other purpose whatsoever.‍

How a Referrer qualifies for an Award‍

8. In order to qualify for an Award, a person making a referral (a “Referrer”) must:
   • meet the eligibility criteria in section 9; and
   • have made a Valid Referral to a Recipient who meets the eligibility criteria in section 11. ‍
9. The Referrer’s eligibility criteria are that they:
   • are an existing customer of Freetrade; 
   • have passed all of our onboarding checks;
   • are a UK tax resident; 
   • have completed a W-8BEN form;
   • have a tradable value of not less than £50 in their Freetrade account(s) in aggregate from no later than 7 November 2024 at 23:59, and they have not thereafter made a transfer or withdrawal that causes the tradable value to fall below £50 before the date of the Award; and
   • would receive no more than ten (10) free shares in the calendar month in which the Recipient completes the Valid Referral steps at section 5(b) and (c), including awards under any other Freetrade campaign.

How a Recipient qualifies for an Award

10. In order to qualify for an Award, a person receiving a referral (a “Recipient”) must:
    • meet the eligibility criteria in section 11; and 
    • have received and completed a Valid Referral from a Referrer who meets the eligibility criteria in section 9. ‍

11.  The Recipient’s eligibility criteria are that they:
    • are a family member or a friend of the Referrer; 
    • are not an existing or previous customer of Freetrade at the time they receive the Referral Link; 
    • have used the Referral Link to become a customer of Freetrade and have opened a Freetrade Account;
    • have passed all of our onboarding checks;
    • are a UK tax resident;
    • have completed a W-8BEN form; and
    • have a tradable value of not less than £50 in their Freetrade account(s) in aggregate from no later than 7 November 2024 at 23:59 and thereafter they have not made a transfer or withdrawal that causes the tradable value to fall below £50 before the date of the Award.

‍Value of the Award 

12. At the time of the Award under these Bonus Free Share Referral Terms & Conditions, each Free Share will have a value of between £10 (GBP) and £100 (GBP) and each Bonus Share will have a value of between £5 (GBP) and £20 (GBP). 
13. The value of a Free Share or a Bonus Share means its approximate market value based on the price of the financial instrument at the time of the Award. The Referrer and the Recipient acknowledge that the value of a Free Share and a Bonus Share may go up or down over time.
14. Each Free Share and each Bonus Share is a financial instrument which is picked randomly by us from a pool of instruments. The pool is weighted so that more expensive shares will be rarer. The below table shows the approximate distribution of free shares.

15. The Bonus Share is selected at random from a list of shares in our temporary Spooky stocks collection available via the Discover tab of the Freetrade app and are worth between £5 and £20. 

Making the Award‍

16. We will use our best endeavours to award the Free Share seven (7) to ten (10) days after the Recipient and Referrer first qualify for an Award under section 8, 9, 10 and 11 provided that the relevant Recipient and Referrer still meet the criteria in section 8, 9, 10 and 11 on the date of the Award. After seven (7) to ten (10) days from being awarded the Free Share, the Bonus Share will appear as pending in your Account. The Bonus Share will be awarded to the Recipient and Referrer one (1) to two (2) days from appearing as pending. If the Award has not been made within this timeframe, you should email freeshare@freetrade.io. 

17. ‍Employees and contractors of Freetrade may make a referral in accordance with these Bonus Free Share Referral Terms and Conditions, but they will not be eligible for a Free Share or Bonus Award in connection with our Bonus Free Share Referral Campaign.

18. You may refer up to ten (10) friends under this Bonus Free Share Referral Campaign. 

19. We may refuse to make an Award if we reasonably consider that the Referrer and/or the Recipient have engaged in activity we deem to be abusive, fraudulent, or in violation of these Bonus Free Share Referral Terms & Conditions. 

20. ‍If a Seller or a Recipient seeks to transfer out the Free Share or Bonus Share or any cash proceeds received as a result of the sale of the Free Share and/or the Bonus Share within one hundred and eighty (180) calendar days from the date of the Award then we may clawback, sell or cancel any relevant Free Share and/or Bonus Share awarded to that person or sell any other shares held by us for that person and/or deduct cash from their Freetrade account of an equivalent value to the Free Share/Bonus Share, as permitted under applicable law.

21. Freetrade does not give tax advice or take account of your individual tax position. You are responsible for understanding your own tax position in relation to your Freetrade Account(s) and the Award.

Neither the making of an Award nor any of our communications in connection with the Bonus Free Share Referral Campaign constitute a recommendation by us to buy, sell, exercise any rights in or hold any financial instrument.
