How this calculator works

This Junior ISA calculator is for illustrative purposes only and does not predict or guarantee what your child’s investments will be worth. It is designed for a Stocks and Shares Junior ISA only and does not account for Cash Junior ISAs. Investments can go down as well as up in value, so your child could get back less than you invest. Freetrade does not provide investment advice and you are responsible for your own decisions.
Results are based on the information you enter, including expected growth rate, existing balance, regular contributions and timeframe. Growth is converted into a monthly compounded rate and assumes contributions are made at the start of each month. You can adjust the growth rate to explore different scenarios.
Estimates exclude ongoing JISA account fees, as Freetrade does not charge an account fee for its Junior ISA. Other charges, including FX fees, may apply. Inflation is not included.
Freetrade’s Junior ISA is available for children under 16, and funds are locked until age 18 other than in limited circumstances. The account then converts into an adult ISA. The calculator projects the estimated value at age 18 based on the time remaining.

For the 2026/27 tax year, you can contribute up to £9,000 per child across all types of JISA types. No UK tax is paid on interest, dividends, or growth within a Junior ISA. JISA rules apply. Tax treatment depends on personal circumstances and may change.

What I love most: Commission-free trading: Buying and selling shares without hidden fees makes investing accessible to everyone. Fractional shares: You don’t need hundreds to invest in big-name companies—just a few pounds and a bit of curiosity. Slick design: The app feels modern and easy to navigate, even for beginners. Educational content: Their in-app insights and weekly emails help me understand the market better without being overwhelming. ISA and SIPP options: For those thinking long-term, it’s great to have tax-efficient accounts built right in. Whether you're dipping your toes into the stock market or managing a growing portfolio, Freetrade makes the experience feel empowering rather than intimidating. It’s not just an app—it’s a gateway to financial confidence.

Having tried all the other share trading apps, I have come to the conclusion that Freetrade is the best 10/10. That’s why I chose them for my SIPP.

I’ve been very impressed, a 10x improvement from Hargreaves Lansdown. The transfer of my SIPP was very well managed with excellent communication all the way. Then the actual platform is very good. My SIPP used to be with HL and that platform is ancient and expensive. I like the PM trading being available with zero fees except foreign exchange rates. Wish I’d moved earlier!

Easy way to manage a stocks and shares ISA. Dividends can be used to buy further shares instead of being hit by yet more tax. Tax efficient for your yearly allowance.
