Is Freetrade safe and trustworthy?

Absolutely. Freetrade is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Since 2025, Freetrade has been owned by IG Group, a FTSE 100 global leader in trading with over 50 years of experience. Your eligible deposits are protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) and your assets are held in segregated client accounts, meaning they are kept separate from the company's own finances.

On our Basic Plan, there are no commission fees for buying and selling stocks, no monthly subscription, and no platform fees. We make money through foreign exchange fees if you buy international stocks and we retain some interest earned on cash balances you hold with us. We believe investing should be accessible to everyone, which is why we have removed as many fees as possible.

How easy is it to withdraw my money?

When you withdraw money from your Freetrade account, it will typically take two to three business days to arrive back in your bank account. If you have a Plus subscription, it will typically arrive the next business day. If you recently sold investments and want to withdraw the money, you will need to wait for the transaction to settle.

How much time do I need to spend to invest?

This really depends on you as the investor and your strategy. Most Freetrade customers tend to be long-term, passive investors who benefit from features like recurring orders that help automate investing with each pay cheque. Regardless of how you want to invest, Freetrade is built for those who want a simplified, low-cost investing experience.
