What is this privacy notice?
Here we will explain important things about how we collect and use your information when you have a JISA account with us, what our obligations are and what rights you have.
If something here is confusing, please ask a parent, carer, or guardian to help you.
Who we are
We are Freetrade and we look after the personal data you or your parent/guardian gave to us so we can provide your JISA account.
What is personal data?
Your information (sometimes called “personal data”) refers to things that tell us something about you or your account.
What information do we collect?
We collect information about you:
- Your full name
- Your address
- Your date of birth
- Your national insurance number or other Tax identification number (if you have one)
- Your nationality/citizenship
We collect information about your account:
- who is paying money in
- who is registered to control the account
- the amount of money in the account
- the performance of your investment(s)
We might also collect information about you when you get in touch with us.
How do we collect your information?
In most cases it will be from the parent/guardian opening your JISA account on your behalf. We might collect some information directly from you, when you get in touch with us.
How and why do we use your information?
We collect your information so that we can provide our services to you, look after your account’s safety and security and because the law tells us we need to collect and store some of your information.
We don't use your information for any other reason.
We use this information to do things like prove who you are, help you with your account, and help us detect things that don't look right on your account.
How do we comply with the law?
The law says we must have a reason to use your information.
Our reasons are:
- To provide the JISA account you asked for (Contractual Obligation)
- To keep the platform safe (Legitimate Interest)
- To follow the law (Legal Obligation)
- Sometimes we may ask for your or your parent’s permission (Consent)
Who we share your information with
Sometimes we work with trusted companies that help us run the service.
These might include companies that help with:
- Technical support
- Security
They are only allowed to use your information to help us run the service.
We do not sell your information.
How long do we keep your information?
- We only keep your information for as long as we need it.
- While you have an account and to deal with problems or legal requirements.
- After that, we delete or anonymise it 6 years after your account closure to comply with tax laws.
Know your rights
The law says you can ask us lots of things about your data.
- You can ask to see your data.
- You can ask us to correct your data. If you think we’ve got any of it wrong, we can fix it.
- You can ask us to stop using your data for certain reasons or ‘object’ to us using it (tell us that you really disagree with it).
- You can ask us to destroy your data. We’ll do this as long as the law says we can.
- You can ask us for a copy of your data.
- You can ask us to stop using computers to make decisions about you. Sometimes a company can use a computer to make automatic decisions. You can ask us to make sure that a human is in charge of making important decisions about you.
